YeahBut

If
collaboration,
the introduction of fresh thinking,
inviting/hearing the voice of all stakeholders,
having rich dialogue around complex problems,
the development of strong and positive relationships, and
creating an environment of transparency and full disclosure

are important to the success (even the SURVIVAL) of your community/organization/family, then there are two words that can pretty much assure that you can't and won't (succeed/survive):

"Yeah, but..."

Those words will pretty much have a bulldozing effect to the environmental dynamics listed above.

The speed/power of the adulteration is directly proportional to the rank of the person using the words.

Peter Block addresses this concept nicely in The Answer to How Is Yes: Acting on What Matters (2001).
